The Beach House

Originally built in 2005, this beachside residence has been thoughtfully reimagined by the team at La Perouse Homes. Perched on a gentle slope, the home already had strong bones, but time and coastal weather had taken their toll. Our goal was to honour the original architecture while modernising the home to suit relaxed, contemporary living.

 

From day one, this project was a true collaboration between our team, the clients, and their designer. The result? A harmonious blend of creativity, craftsmanship, and intentional design choices that brought new life to every corner of the home.

 

Each room was meticulously updated with bespoke finishes, new flooring, and quality joinery, all while working within the existing footprint. Where the external facade had worn down, we took a sustainability-first approach, replacing elements only where necessary and using high-grade, corrosion-resistant materials to withstand the beachfront environment for years to come.

Inside, oversized double-glazed stacker doors were installed across all ocean-facing rooms, removing the barrier between indoor and outdoor living. Natural light floods the home, and carefully placed louvre windows promote airflow and connection to the outdoors.

 

The colour palette and textures throughout the home were designed to echo the surrounding landscape, muted tones, soft microcement finishes, and warm timber detailing invite calm and comfort. One of the standout elements is the custom kitchen: a seamless mix of functionality and visual impact, featuring Tasmanian oak finger battens, electric drawers, and Dekton concrete-finish benchtops. Every drawer and fitting was considered, down to the BLUM hardware, ensuring both style and long-term performance.

 

On the lower level, the material palette continues, creating consistency across the master suite and guest quarters. Large stacking glass doors bring the outside in, while extra glazing in the ensuite enhances natural light and ventilation.

 

This project stands as a testament to what’s possible when clients are truly engaged in the process. Their styling input, thoughtful choices, and trust in the team elevated every space.
